Please send your Love and Light to this father, Chris, whose life has forever been turned upside down. Next time you sing a song please dedicate it to him as a blessing to his family who have gone ahead of him.

Lennon’s lack of movement and brain activity was a constant concern for the doctors and nurses at Loma Linda University Hospital, where he received the absolute best care available. During the pregnancy, Ashley would often feel Lennon moving to music so Chris asked if he could bring his guitar into the NICU and play for Lennon, which he did for several hours during the last days of Lennon’s precious life. One day after filming this, Lennon went to sleep in his daddy’s arms.

In the months following the attacks on 9/11/01, Ashley took her desire for outreach, and caring for those in need, to New York City. There she spent her senior year Spring Break volunteering at Ladder 10 Fire Station at Ground Zero, where that engine company is famous for its bronze memorial wall celebrating their heroes. It was there she met her future husband, Chris Picco, who was also volunteering in the relief efforts.
