Before I die I want to….

By on October 18, 2014

In her New Orleans neighborhood, artist and TED Fellow Candy Chang turned an abandoned house into a giant chalkboard asking a fill-in-the-blank question: “Before I die I want to ___.” Her neighbors’ answers — surprising, poignant, funny — became an unexpected mirror for the community. She shares her story in her TED talk video

As a community artist myself I love what Candy is doing towards opening up the conversation about death.  Having passionately fallen in love with New Orleans above all other places when we went traveling to the US not long after the Hurricane it does not surprize me at all that one of their artists would be doing great community work like this
